DR. S. MICHAEL, THURMAN, DMD
Michael grew up in Atlanta, GA and received his AB degree from Davidson College in 1965. He was a Regular Army Artillery Officer for 4+ years commanding a missile battery in Germany and then a year as an Advisor in the Republic of Vietnam. He attended the University of South Carolina upon his return 1969-1970. Then attended the Medical University of South Carolina 1970-1973 earning a DMD degree in Dentistry. Upon graduating he began a General Dentistry practice in Mt. Pleasant, SC from 1973-2010 retiring in 2010.
Michael started the DATS program as the first of its kind in South Carolina in May 2009. He enjoys hunting, fishing and outdoors in general.
Desiree Hagler was born in Charleston, SC. She is currently an office manager and instructor at DATS. She has been in the dental field for 11 years. She enjoys being part of the dental industry. She started working with DATS in 2014. She enjoys teaching students what she knows and continues to learn that will help them be successful dental assistants. In her spare time loves spending time with her husband and three kids. She plans to pursue her degree in management.
LINDA D. MORRISON, RDH, M.ED.
Linda has been a Registered Dental Hygienist for more than 30 years. She graduated from MUSC with a B.S. in Dental Hygiene in 1979 and from the Citadel in 1989 with a M.Ed. in Clinical Counseling. She retired from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2007, where she held the positions of Dental Hygienist in Dental Faculty Practice, Dental Hygienist in the Dept. of Pediatric Dentistry, and Clinical Coordinator for MUSC Craniofacial and Cleft Lip and Palate Clinic. Prior to that, Linda worked with physically and developmentally challenged dental patients as the Dental Hygienist at SC Dept. of Disabilities and Special Needs – Coastal Center in Ladson, SC.
She has spent much of her career working with special needs patients and finds helping others extremely rewarding! She has a passion for education and believes that it is the key to empowering herself and others.
When not working, Linda enjoys any activity that gets her outdoors, especially gardening, bicycling, hiking, and playing with her two beagles. She also enjoys reading and antiquing.
Greis Sinclair, originally from Venezuela, has been a dental assistant for 7 years. She graduated in the first DATS class in 2009. She has worked for DATS since 2010. She was Dr. Thurman’s chairside dental assistant for 2 years before he retired in 2010. She is married with 2 ‘fur-ball babies’! She has worked for a dental office in North Charleston for the last 5 years. She enjoys being outdoors, spending time at the beach, hiking, reading and going to the movies.
Originally from England, Hannah has been assisting in the clinic for DATS since September 2015. She graduated from DATS in February 2015. Hannah moved to Charleston with her family (her husband is in the Air Force) from Japan in 2013 where she worked as an English Science teacher in a small town outside Tokyo. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, going to the beach and keeping fit at the gym. Hannah works for Cooper Family Dental in Park Circle and Oakbrook Family Dental in Summerville. Hannah enjoys teaching the students to be the best they can possibly be!
